If you don’t fall in love with Edna Staebler when reading her books, then you are dead inside. Rexlly heat to low, cover and simmer 2 to 3 hours, until very tender.

The original of this book did influence the way I’ve recorded recipes. I have literally made hundreds of recipes from this book.

Its charm hasn’t stale-dated; the recipes are homey and local long before urban sophisticates considered that a virtuefeaturing such timeless dishes as Schnippled Bean Salad and Shoo-fly Pie.
