Odysseus travelling Karol meets a Kirke Lucrezia which in second part turns out to be his Penelope but unfortunately he doesn’t understand it It’s really difficult to find it believable, or relateable, and the characters just don’t come alive as a result. Each time I have loved, it was with so much of my heart that I thought it was for the first and last time in my life.
This is probably very horrible of me to say so, but I actually wish the author died before Chopin did.

I physically wanted to fight George Sand during the duration of this book.
As a consequence of many unorthodox aspects of her lifestyle, Sand was obliged to relinquish some of the privileges appertaining to a baroness — though, interestingly, the mores of the period did permit upper-class wives to live physically separated from their husbands, without losing face, provided the estranged floirani exhibited no blatant irregularity to the outside world.
